KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 1 (Bernama) -- The Foreign Ministry has expressed its concern over the predicament faced by Malaysian under 23 footballers as they could not fly to Vientiane yesterday.
"The ministry regret over the incident, which should not have happened and it wish the national team success in the Laos SEA Games 2009," it said in a statement on Tuesday.
However, the national squad was flown to the Laotian capital by the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) aircraft today and arrived there at 10.30am Malaysian time.
The national squad was scheduled to leave for Vientiane yesterday for a training stint before taking on Timor Leste in their first Group A match tomorrow.
However, the RMAF was not granted permission to fly the national squad into Vientiane yesterday.
Malaysia will meet Vietnam on Sunday, Cambodia (Dec 8) and defending champions Thailand (Dec 11).
