KUCHING, Dec 11 (Bernama) -- Debt-ridden Football Association of Sarawak (Fas) has set up FAS Football Management Group (FMG) Sdn Bhd to manage it senior squad for the 2010 Premier League season.
Fas secretary-general Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, who is also FAS FMG Sdn Bhd director, said the role of the new entity would be solely to manage the overall aspects of the senior team to allow the association to only focus on tackling its long-standing debts.
"Hopefully, after this, there will be no problems involving late salary payments," he said, at the contract signing ceremony for Sarawak's new coach and 22 players for the new season here on Friday.
Later, at a media conference, FAS FMG chairman Datuk Sudarsono Osman said initial funding to operate the entity would come mostly from goverment grants and subsequently, sourced from the private sector.
For the new season, Sarawak has hired ex-Negeri Sembilan coach Zaki Sheikh Ahmad as its new coach and manager while signing seven players from other states and clubs, including ex-international Wong Sai Kong, to beef up its preparations.
